In UK (Harlow and Stevenage), the Genetic Research Division of GSK has a well-established technological platform for gene expression profiling by DNA microarrays, exploiting the Affymetrix GeneChip technology. The platform is based at the Transcriptome Analysis group, which has staff dedicated to the Psychiatry CEDD projects, led by Stewart Bates (senior investigator). Other members of the group at Stevenage who will be involved are Juliet Reid (PhD) for RNA processing and hybridisation, and Steve Blakemore (PhD) for data analysis. The laboratory is equipped with 11 Affymetrix GeneChip fluidic station 400s, 4 Affymetrix GCS 3000 scanners and Affymetrix LIMS system for integrated work. In addition two Agilent BioAnalyers are available for quality control of cDNA and cRNA based on lab-on-a-chip technology.
