Modern, well equipped animal facilities are available at the Karolinska Institute and thus from the technical point of view this project builds on the already fully operative facilities and implemented procedures. Drs Angelucci, El-Khoury and Gruber will carry out these tasks. The same researchers will also personally carry out all the biochemical determinations, e.g. measurements of neuropeptides and neurotrophins. Advanced equipment and expertise are needed for assessment of neurogenesis and resources for these procedures are mobilized through extensive and close collaboration between Mathé and professor Bolwigs team (Dr. Wörtwein will actually do the neurogenesis work using the recently acquired confocal microscope and other instruments).

Prof. Mathé, head of the Swedish Partner group, has had extensive experience with these procedures ( see references) and will be the person responsible for supplying animals/tissues to other investigators in WP1, WP2 and WP3 . The group of LH animals will be supplied by Professor Henn.
